George Washington University’s Center for Ancient Arabian Studies (CAAS) is the only U.S. center of its kind dedicated to exploring the cultures, history and archaeology of the ancient Arabian world. Housed in the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, CAAS brings together scholars and partner institutions from around the world to advance knowledge of the cultural heritage of ancient Arabia and the Arabian peninsula, and their modern-day significance.

From unearthing the ancient path of the Spice Route to cataloging ceramic artifacts into an unprecedented AI model, CAAS fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and sets the foundation for transformative archaeological discoveries. Its work highlights the enduring importance of the Arabian Peninsula and northwest Arabia in shaping the historical narratives of the broader ancient world.
